Additional options

Although most members are interested in a direct exchange of homes for a holiday, there are other options you may consider, and which you can choose when you register for membership:

Weekend exchange

Short breaks close to home.

Non-simultaneous exchange

Works the same as home exchange but not at the same time. This often appeals to members swapping second homes who don’t need to exchange at the same time. Non-simultaneous exchange gives more flexibility on dates.

Hospitality exchange

Host guests in your home whilst you are there and the guest reciprocates at another time (as this is reciprocal, no money should be involved). Exactly what will be included in a hospitality exchange is entirely up to the individuals involved – some members have the time and enjoy showing their guests around their area, preparing most meals for them too. Others, perhaps those who will generally be at work during the week, may provide use of a car, lots of ideas for outings and leave food for their guests to make most of their own meals. Others will fall somewhere in between – providing some meals and accompanying their guests on some outings while giving them time on their own too. Just make sure you know that you are both happy with your arrangements before agreeing to a hospitality exchange.

Bed & breakfast offered

Member charges a reasonable rate for accommodation and meals as mutually agreed.

Rental of home or holiday home offered

Only non-commercial rental offers are accepted, and in conjunction with at least one other option such as home exchange (i.e. second homes that are normally used privately but can be made available for a modest rental charge to other members at times when exchanges can’t be considered).

Home sitting offered/wanted

Member lives in home, caring for pets, plants, etc as agreed in return for a holiday base. You need to consider whether this option is right for you if you want to tour and see the local area. Day tours are only really acceptable with this exchange. If you want the flexibility to tour for a few days, you are better off arranging a standard home exchange where you are not tied to staying in the home every night.
