We live in a large, Victorian, seaside family house set in a lovely location with views over Swanage Bay and the Isle of Wight. Our house has many period features, stripped wooden floors, original fireplaces (a log fire in the living room) and our eclectic collection of art. It is on three storeys and is near the top of a hill. You will get plenty of exercise! The house is well equipped for entertaining with a large kitchen; double oven, microwave, dishwasher etc. There is a family sized (11sqm)bathroom as well as a separate shower room, and downstairs loo. The house sleeps 10 in four double bedrooms (one double, one king-size, one double with bunk above and one double with extra single bed.)
Swanage is a thriving seaside resort with wonderful beaches, a pier, a steam railway to Corfe Castle, a theatre, pubs and restaurants. It is an excellent base for walking, swimming, cycling, sailing, fishing, rock-climbing and diving. There are beautiful coastal walks along the Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage site), with clifftop paths, secluded coves for fossil hunting and rock-pools all on the doorstep. Five minutes walk to the award-winning beach, town centre, interesting shops, galleries, parks and mountain-biking paths. Stunning Dorset countryside, Historic Castles, Country Houses and idyllic villages to explore nearby. Studland, Corfe Castle, Tyneham Village and Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door slose-by
See www.virtual-swanage.co.uk for more about Swanage. The last picture on our entry shows Durlston Castle and Anvil Point lighthouse, which are a short walk from the back of our house and another picture shows part of the view from the top of the house.

Ruth is a nurse and Sebastian is an artist and teacher in a Middle School. Our children, aged 11 and 19, are well behaved and are well travelled, although our daughter is now at University and is unlikely to travel with us. We have two easy to care for cats. We are open-minded on destinations around the world, but are tied to English school holidays,(unless it's just for the weekend!) We have now completed nine fantastic holiday exchanges and are looking forward to more in 2010!
